08 Mar 1900 - Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Arthur Francis ARBOUR wasthe 2nd of 7 children of Edward Joseph ARBOUR and Mary Dora LEBLANC. Arthur worked as a laborer in a stove mill until followingthe roots his father laid out before him as a newspaper carrier. Twenty-four year oldArthur then married 19-year old Marion LEBLANC somewhere in Louisiana in about 1924. They had a son Arthur JosephARBOUR in 1928. However, tragedy struck the young family only a handful of years after this. According to the newspaper report of 06 Aug 1900, here is what happened:
CRASH IN LOUISIANA TAKES LIVES OF FIVE
New Orleans, 6 Aug -- Trapped in the blazing wreckage of an overturned automobile, five persons were burned to death 18 miles south of here today. One other was burned possibly fatally. All were members of well-known New Orleans families. The dead:Mrs. A. F. Bernius, wife of a local pharmicist; her granddaughter, Laura Bernius, 4; Mrs. Arthur Arbour andher son, Arthur Arbour Jr.; and Mrs. Conrad Bernius, 28, daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Bernius. The injured: A. F. Bernius, husbandofMrs. Bernius, and Mrs. Conrad Bernius, his daughter-in-law. Witnesses told officers they believed the accident and fire was caused by a blowout.
Thus, Marion and little Arthur died in Aug 1936, leaving Arthur a youngwidower without a family. There is no evidence that Arthur ever remarried or had any other children. He passed away in New Orleans in Aug 1963, at the age of 63.

In 1940, Arthur reported that he had earned $450 in 1939.

On 15 Nov 1942, Arthur registered for the draft. At the time, he was described as 5'9", 125 lbs, grey eyes, black hair, and a light complexion.
According to his Draft Registration, Arthur was born on 08 Mar 1901. His next of kin was reported as Sister-in-Law Mrs H J LANAUX, 8444 Jeannette St, New Orleans, LA.
