Notes - Bud remained on his parents' farm until age 19. In 1940, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Hamilton, Ontario. On August 1941, he graduated as a pilot and on 31 August he was shipped overseas,where he was on flying duty with the Air Force until August 1944, when he returned toCanada. After the War, Bud and Eileen returned to Ontario, where Bud continued as a pilot in the training commanduntil February 1945, when hewas discharged. Bud then worked as a Settlement Officer with the Veterans' Land Act and as a Credit Advisor with the Farm Credit Corporation until 1979. He then opened a tree nursery and garden center in Shanty Bay, Ontario, just outside Barrie, on the western shore of Lake Simcoe. After his discharge, Bud also tookthe time to obtain a bachelor of ArtsDegree in Social Science at York University in Toronto. He also becamean Accredited Appraiser of the Canada Institute, specializing in ruralproperty valuations. In 1979, he established an appraisal business working from his farm. In 1998, he closed his garden center and appraisal business. He is now developing "Arbourwood Estates" on his 180-acre tree farm, creating a residential subdivision on 100 home lots.
Note added 12 Apr 2008: According to the Simcoe County website, at somepoint, Bud was elected to the Oro Township Council and served as Reeve.
