Mr. Joseph Donat Arbour, age 85 years a resident of Hartland Street, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (Port Arthur General Site) on Sunday, 12 December 1999 with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 15 December, at 11am in theSargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. CourtStreet, with Archdeacon Mark S. Conliffe, Legion Padre officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery. Port Arthur Branch #5, RoyalCanadian Legion willhold a memorial service in conjunction with the funeral service. Friends may call a the Sargent Chapel from 7p - 9p Tuesday evening. As expression of sympathy the family respectfully requests memorials to Port Arthur Branch #5, Building Fund.

Mr. Joseph Donat Arbour, age 85 years a resident of 830 Hartland Street, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (Port Arthur General Site) on Sunday, 12 December 1999, with his family at his side. Born 31 Jul 1914, in Gaspe, QC, he came here as a young boy. He had worked as a welder in his earlier years withthe mines in Geraldton, then as a welder with Dingwell's Machine Shop, and latterly with themaintenance department of the Port Arthur General Hospital, retiring at theage of 73 years. He served in the Tank Corps with the Royal Canadian Army during WWII in Canada at Camp Borden and overseas in Holland and Germany for 3 years. Donat lovedhishome and camp at Shebandowan and was an avid wood-worker, where he excelled in the making of grandfather clocks. He enjoyed times spent with the family pet Jasmine. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by hisfamily,his wife Bessie, with whom he shared 62 years; his daughters Donalda(Wim) Vonk of Qualicum Beach, BC (at present here) and Marilyn Stevenson of Thunder Bay; granddaughters Sheryl (Dale) Watson and Carolyn Vonk of Grand Cayman Islands and Jennifer Vonk of Thornhill, ON (at present here); and brother Reginald; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Hewas predeceased by his parents, brothers Ash,George, Freddie, Homer, and Union, and sister Louise. Funeral services will be held onWednesday,15 December, at 11 am in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 NorthCourt Street, with ArchdeaconMark S. Conliffe, Legion Padre officiating.
