  Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Leon-Ernest ARBOUR was the eldest of 3 children of farmer and Bell Telephone employee Felix ARBOUR and his wife Martine GINGRAS-BARETTE. On 07 Feb 1910, 20-year old Ernestmarried17-year old Elmire BONENFANT in Ottawa. They had 4 sons but only 2 of them survived beyond the day they were born. On 25 September 1912, Leon travelled to the US via the port of Montreal, QC. He came from Lachine, QC, and was headed to Tupper Lake,NY. His employer was George BOUSHEN? of Campbell Lake, NY. Leon was noted to be 5'8" with a medium complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes. He carried $11 with him. Later on, Elmire's great-niece Doris MALONEY described Ernest as being "short and quite heavy."She also commented that this branch of the family spoke only French, which was quite common among those who had transplanted themselves to northern Ontario. Ernest was about 71 when he died in Ottawa in 1960.Elmire lived at least 100 years, as she was known to still be alive in May1992, according to Doris MALONEY. Both were buried in Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa. Ernest and Elmire are known to have 5 grandchildren and 5great-grandchildren.
