  Immigrated to the USA about 1871.   According to the 1900Census, Israelwas born in Quebec in Nov 1853. Asreported in the local newspaper, Israel was seemingly quite a proficient student. In 1858, he received 2nd place in French Lecture, 2nd place in French Writing, and an Honorable Mention for his performance in his Epellation Class. He also received1st place in his Catechism Class. The following year, he received Honorable Mention in French Writing. According to his great-granddaughter, LizPINKERTON: Israel came into Michigan (living somewhere in the area from Saginaw Baynorth to Alpena) fromQuebec in the late 1800's. Israel apparently applied several times for citizenship. He has a "first paper" numbered V2P133, a "first" and "second" paper numbered B3P130,and another "second paper" numbered V6P38. It is unclear what datesareassociated with these, although all were submitted in Michigan
