Notes - Hilda was only 11-years old when her mother died. The young woman then became care-giver for her family. She even wrote and sent pictures faithfully to their maternal grandparents in the west. Shortly after their wedding, Hilda and Louis moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where they had five children, four daughters and one son. As they were establishing theirfamily, Hilda's elderly father moved in with them. In later years, Hilda's Uncle Baptiste also moved in with them to share his final days. Auntie Hilda was known for her more-the-merrier attitude. A visitor couldnot simply stop in; they had to stay for a meal. Hilda always made everyone feel welcome and considered no visitor a mere guest, as all were family. At their home in Hamilton,Hilda and Louis were neighbors of James and Eliza NAYLOR. James and Eliza had two daughters, Emily and Jessie. Hilda, Eliza, and Emily were all very good friends. Younger sister Jessie also became a close friend of one of the ARBOURs, Hilda's brotherBert. Jessie later became his wife.
