GERTRUDE EVA ARBOUR
Augusta -- Gertrude Eva Arbour, 84, of Gray Birch Drive and formerly ofHillcrest Street Extension, died on Sunday, 30 Oct 2005, at Maine General Medical Center. She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, on 17 March 1921, the daughter of John Medley Soucy and Helene (Cote) Soucy. Mrs. Arbour was a homemaker in her own home for most of her life, but shehad been employed by Taylor Shoe Co. for 10years. She was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and Cushnoc Senior Citizens.Her husband, Armand J.T. Arbour, died on 25 Feb 1999. She also was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Rita Rollins and Gloria McLeod; andtwo brothers, Philip Soucy and Maurice Soucy. Surviving are two sons, Raymond J. Arbour and his wife, Ann, of Augusta, and Normand J. Arbour and his fiancee,Theresa Paquette, of Pittston; a brother, Aleo Soucy ofTogus; three sisters, Evelyn Chaplain and her husband, Guy, of Chelsea, Agnes Weston of Hallowell and Theresa Chaplain of Randolph; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday,1 Nov, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9 am Wednesday at St.Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Augusta -- A Mass of Christian burial for Gertrude Eva Arbour, who died30 Oct 2005, was celebrated Wednesday morning at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Boisvert, parochial vicar, officiating. Altar servers wereBrooklynMoody and Abby Gower. Music was provided by organist Kathy Brooks, who accompanied the Augusta Catholic Community Resurrection Choir. The first reading was given by grandson Shawn Arbour and the second reading was given by granddaughter Michelle Caldwell. Taking part in the offertory procession were grandsons Christopher and Benjamin Arbour. Personal remarks were shared by granddaughterMichelle Caldwell and daughter-in-law Ann Arbour. There were representatives from Augusta Catholic community, Cushnoc Senior Citizens, Gray Birch residential care unit and former Augusta firefighters. Pallbearerswere Christopher Arbour, Shawn Arbour, Benjamin Arbour, Rodney Caldwell, David Caldwell and Frank Arbour. Burial was in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, where the Rev. Boisvert offered the committal prayers. Arrangements were under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
