Notes:
In about 1914, Wilfred moved to New Hampshire and married later that year in Dover, Strafford County, NH. He registered for the draft during WWI while living in Stratford County. The family lived in Dover from 1917 through 1941. They seem tohave left that community by 1943, by 1948, they lived in Biddeford, Maine, where they continued to live through atleast 1951. Wilfred died sometime between 1951 and 1956.
According to his WWI Draft Registration, Wilfred was of medium height and medium build with brown eyes and black hair.

16 Feb 1891 -- Joseph-Wilfred ARBOUR was another of our young men out of Joliette, QC. He was the 4th of 9 children born to Ours ARBOUR and Zephirina GRENIER. In 1914, while still single, Wilfred decided to investhis future in the US, moving to NewHampshire where the textile trade was the major industry. Shortly after his arrival, he met and married Odeline GRENIER, who was a native of Dover, NH. Wilfred registered for the draft during WWI while living in Stratford County, NH,and was foundtobe medium height and medium build with brown eyes and black hair. Thefamily lived in Dover from 1917 through 1941. During this time they became parents to 6 children, while both working at the cotton mills: Odeline as a spinner and Wilfred workinghis way up from carder to foreman. In 1941, Wilfred seems to have served a short stint in the Army. Afterward, the family left Dover; by 1948, they lived in Biddeford, Maine, where they continued to live through at least 1951. Wilfred worked asa fixer at Bates Manufacturing, the largest employer in the area. He diedsometime between 1951 and 1956. 22 May 1915 -- Born in Dover, New Hampshire, Roland J. ARBOUR was the eldest of 6 children of textile mill employees Joseph-Wilfred ARBOUR andOdeline F. GRENIER. Roland spent his formative years in Dover and evenfollowed his parents' path into the local textile mills, but WWII changed everything for the family. Having heard his country's call to duty,Roland enlisted in the Army on 25 February 1942, at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, where he was noted to be 5'7" tall and 182 lbs.Thereafter, hemust have seen some action in Europe in which he was injured. SergeantRoland sailed on the "Aquitania" into New York, NY, arriving on 04 October 1945, returning from war as a "High Score Casual" bound for the Separation Centerat Fort Devens. He settled in Biddeford and Saco, Maine,where he again returned to mill work. Roland then thought to add some stability to his life by marrying when he wed 35-year old Ada T. LESSARD on 22 April 1950 in Saco. Their daughterJoan was born a few years later. Following this, both Roland and Ada were both found living in Salem, NH, but they do not seem to have lived together. At the time of Roland's death in Methuen, MA, on 06 September 1983, neither Ada nor Joan wasmentioned in Roland's obituary. Ada was 86 when she died in Salem on 19 June 2001. Joan was the mother of their only granddaughter prior to Ada's passing.

JEANETTE BUTLER, 82, of Somersworth, NH, formerly of Rochester, NH, died 29 Jan at her niece's residence after a period of failing health. Shewas born 11 March 1919, in Dover, NH, the daughter of Wilfred and Odelie Grenier Arbour. She was employedwith Eastern Air Devices for 25 years, retiring in 1975. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her husband of 50 years, Albert E. Butler, died previously, as did four brothers, Wilfred Jr., Normand, Robert, and Roland Arbour. Survivors include a niece, Janet (Mrs. Martin) Chabot of Somersworth; a nephew, Richard Arbour; and many other nieces, nephews, and grand- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. Visiting hour 12-1 pm Friday at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655Central Ave, Dover, where a funeral service follows at1 pm, the Rev. Fritz J. WILFRED J. ARBOUR JR. RETIRED FROM PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD
Wilfred J. Arbour Jr., 74, of Route 111 died Friday at the Renaissance Nursing Home. He was born in Dover, NH, a son of Wilfred J. and Odelie Grenier Arbour Sr., and attended Dover schools. Mr. Arbour served with the New Hampshire National Guard and the Army during WWII. He moved to the Biddeford area after the war and was a house painter for several years and also worked at York Mill for a few years. He last worked 20 years at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1980. He wasa life memberof the Biddeford-Saco Elks. For the past nine years he was retired in Bradenton, FL. He enjoyed playing pool and cards. Surviving are his wife,Irene J. Chaffard Arbour; two sons, Ronald of Seattle and Roger of Biddeford; a stepson, Richard Morin ofLyman; a stepdaughter, Priscille Nadeau of Lyman; abrother, Norman of Biddeford; a sister, Jeannette Butler of Rochester, NH; three grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Hope Memorial Chapel,480Elm St., Biddeford.
